Your story should be between 1,000 and 8,000 words and edited to the best of your ability.

Stories should be in the Romantic Fantasy genre. Romantic fantasy is a sub-genre of fantasy fiction, depicting a fantasy story while using many of the elements and conventions of the chivalric romance genre. Happy endings are not required, but still encouraged!

Submissions are open now until 11:59 p.m. June 14, 2019 EST.

We will accept up to 2 submissions by the same author. More than one submission by the same author may be chosen for the anthology. For multiple submissions, please send separately. See guidelines below.

Simultaneous submissions will not be accepted. Previously published submissions will not be accepted. Submissions should not be available for viewing online during the submission/publication process or for 6 months after publication.

We will not accept any stories of a “preachy” soapbox nature, whether it be religious, political, or other.

Submissions should only have mild, non-graphic violence, no explicitly sexual/erotic scenes, and “bad” language should not be used excessively but may be used in limited capacity.

To avoid rights issues, no living public figures should be used as characters, no fan-fiction involving proprietary characters, and no song lyrics. However, passing references to these are fine.

All submitting authors will be notified of our decision no later than July 12, 2019. If your submission is chosen, you will receive a full publishing contract outlining the details of our agreement. Upon signing, Stormy Island Publishing retains exclusive rights until six months after publication.

We will pay $20 for each accepted story after the contract has been signed. Payment is only available through PayPal.

Each signed author will also receive one free copy of the anthology after publication.

All poems should be sea and/or love themed. This is an open ended call for submissions, open until we feel we have enough accepted material to work with (aiming for around 100 poems). No word counts, we only ask that it pertains to one (or both!) of our themes. Submit in a word doc via email titled Poetry Submission to with the title of the poem, theme used, and pen name if applicable in the body of the email. No previously or currently published poems will be accepted. Authors may submit multiple poems (up to 5) but no guarantee we will accept all. Contributing poets will receive a free eBook version of the anthology.
